To volunteer on our email support service, please apply before Monday 3 October 2011. Interviews will take place during October, with the training itself starting in November. You should apply to: Helpline Manager, Aware, 72 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin 2, with all of the following:
(1) a completed application form (below)
(2) a completed Garda vetting form (below).
Important Notes
* All volunteers must be at least 21 years of age.
* At least one written reference will be required as part of your application. You may either include this with your application or bring it to your interview.
* Because of the investment required to train new volunteers, we require an initial commitment of at least one year.
* Each volunteer is asked to answer at least 4 support emails once a week. Please allow 3 hours or so in total. Emails can be answered off-site but please ensure that your workspace is suitably free of interruption.
* To volunteer for this service, you should already be comfortable using email. You should also have a reliable broadband connection.
* Due to the potential for conflicts of interest to arise, practising therapists and counsellors are not eligible to volunteer on the service.
* Please make sure that your application is complete with all the necessary documents (see above).
