Fun Run

One of the best days out in our fundraising calendar, this annual event takes place in the Phoenix Park, Dublin 8. The 2008 Aware Fun Run was a huge success, with more than 2,000 people registering to take part – an increase of 100% on the previous year.

When?
Saturday, 11th December 2010 at 10am.

Who can help?
You can help with our Fun Run in two ways:

• Run! If you or a team of your friends sign up by December 8th, we'll send you a sponsorship card to make it easier for all your friends, family members and work colleagues to sponsor you. Not only do you benefit by doing something really positive and helping others at a time when the spirit of goodwill to all men is at its greatest, but you'll also get kudos from your pals and a break from the hectic festivities in the run-up to Christmas.
• Stewarding: With a run of this size and scope, we need up to 100 volunteer stewards to help with road closures on routes into the park, water stations, late registration, race number pick-up, etc. We have a small number of staff, so we really do need help with this one. Everyone who has helped in previous years has had a really good day out and they tend to come back for more the year after, which is a good sign! However, as the event continues to grow, we need more stewards...

How do I volunteer?
Email fundraising@aware.ie for more information. Give us your name as well as a contact telephone number and an idea of what time you will be available on the day. Staff start at 5am, but we tend to need volunteers mostly between 8am and 12 noon. Even if you can just spare a couple of hours (say from 10 until midday), we can still find something useful for you to do.

Can I really make a difference?
Without participants and stewards, we wouldn’t be able to hold the Fun Run, so yes – you can really make a difference. Every year, the success of this event is down to the contribution made by each and every person there on the day, whether they donated money or time. We need you!
