Bringing Aware's confidential support group service to you.
We're currently putting the finishing touches to the software that will power our online support groups. We'll shortly begin a pilot phase to test everything on a small scale before opening the online support group service fully to everyone. If you'd like to take part in the pilot phase, please email .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) and we'll be in touch soon with more details.
How does it work?
The online support groups will work in the same way as our support groups throughout the country. They will give attendees a safe space where they can talk through their specific concerns, learn coping skills from others and explore the options available to them. Each session will be open at a specified time (once a week initially), facilitated by a trained Aware facilitator and attended by 10-15 individuals who have signed up for the service. A session will last approximately 90 minutes - 2 hours.
Is it confidential?
Yes. The new service will be entirely confidential and your email address will never be seen by the other attendees. When you sign up, you choose your own username and this is the name that will be used in all communications. This means that none of the other participants will ever be able to link your username with your email address.
How do I sign up?
Once the new service is ready to launch, we will advertise it here and provide a registration area where you can sign up.
What do I need in order to access this service?
You will need a PC and internet access. Other than that, just log on at the relevant time and sign in using your username and password.
What if I need help before the service launches?
We already offer face-to-face depression support groups all over Ireland, as well as an email support service and the Aware Discussion Board if you can't make a group or you'd rather not attend in person.
