At Aware, we welcome fundraising in any shape or form, especially if it's something you enjoy doing anyway. That means we've had people raise funds for us doing everything from running and walking to sailing, skydiving and vintage car touring. Fearghal and Simon even cycled around the world.
Nobody, however, had ever climbed Mount Everest for us before. Until last Thursday, when Patrick Maher, Jamie O'Reilly and Paul Greenan (pictured left-to-right above) flew out to Nepal to start a 14-day climb to Mount Everest Base Camp (an altitude of 18,500 feet) in aid of Aware.
The three will climb for 6-7 hours a day in temperatures as low as -8 Celsius to raise money for Aware - the trip is entirely self-funded so every cent raised will support our work. Of the adventure, Jamie says: "It’s a really positive message, the idea of a 'natural high' and reminds us all of the importance of exercise and challenges to keep us mentally strong. Hopefully people here in Ireland will want to support this idea and will be keen to donate some money to Aware in honour of our adventure".
To support this massive undertaking with a donation, just visit Jamie's SponsorMe page. We'll have more information on their progress as we get it.
And best of luck, lads!
