Just a quick reminder that we're currently planning the pilot phase for our online support groups and are looking for people to get involved.
We're looking for participants and trained Aware facilitators to test out the software and give us feedback on the experience. Like our 'real world' support groups, the service will be completely confidential.
Thanks to all those who've been in touch so far. If you'd like to take part, please email website@aware.ie
Hi everyone,
The Aware Forums show there are so very many people with severe problems of different kinds but with a common thread to all of them - Depression of some variety. The Forums also show that many have found help, advice and some comfort, both from Muiris the Administrator and also from the support from fellow-sufferers. An on-line anonymous group who can share their experiences, help, advice and just talk to each other directly seems a very good idea to me.
Looking through the Threads, you can see from many that talking to each other has made a difference, but the responses are scattered around, so if people were gatherd together in a group, it would be easier to help each other. Advice from Professionals is necesary and vital, but common experience shared is also very potent. kairos
Well said kairos - we’re hoping the online groups will offer something a little different from the forums so that we can offer the same kind of support we do in our real-world groups to everyone.
A real-world meeting doesn’t always suit people, whether because of nerves, location, timing, or anything else, so hopefully this will add to the support groups that people already find helpful all over the country.
