While our main focus is obviously on issues surrounding depression, Aware is also one of the 25 full members of the Neurological Alliance of Ireland (NAI).
Today, the NAI is launching a new document on neurological care in Ireland, available for download from their website. Entitled The Future for Neurological Conditions in Ireland: A Challenge for Healthcare; An Opportunity for Change, it details the current challenges facing this branch of our healthcare system and the NAI's proposed solutions. The group estimates that 700,000 Irish people live with neurological conditions, a figure set to rise to 860,000 within ten years.
The NAI is also urging the public to get involved by signing their Thinking Ahead petition, which calls for a National Programme for Neurological Care in the HSE. To add your name, or to download a copy of the NAI policy document, just visit www.nai.ie
