The 2010 Aware Annual Report is now published and available for download (below). The report covers our activity in 2010 across all areas of the organisation, from support services to fundraising events to education and information programmes.
Our 25th year saw a lot of goodwill towards the organisation and we're grateful to everyone who helped make it a special year. Ray D'Arcy and a host of other famous faces helped us to launch Depression Awareness Week (DAWN) early on, while President Mary McAleese was the guest of honour at our National Day for volunteers in November. The President's remarks on the day are included in the report, while Agnes Rowley and Colm Lundberg share their personal stories from sufferers to Aware volunteers.
A range of other developments are also covered, including the relaunch of Aware.ie, the successful pilot phases of the Life Skills Programme and our online support groups, and the publication of new factsheets. Helpline calls were up more than 7% and the number of people delivering our Beat the Blues secondary school programme was also increased.
As always, we're grateful to everyone who supports our work. 83% of our funds came from the public in 2010, through donations, our annual Daisy Days collection and events you organised yourselves (vintage car rallies, concerts, climbs, runs, cycles and more). A huge thank you for your support.
