While laughter can often prove to be good medicine, a new Dublin comedy night is aiming to do more than just give you a giggle. Proceeds from each show will go towards supporting the work of a different charity, and Aware is the nominated charity for the first night's fun.

The event will take place on Saturday 24th July in The Exchange, Temple Bar, Dublin (map to the Exchange). Doors open at 7pm, with the show starting at 7.30 and lasting till 9. Entry costs €5 per person.

MC for the night will be Trevor Browne, finalist in the 2009 Bulmers Nothing Butt Comedy competition, while Rory O'Hanlon will headline with a sneak preview of the new set that he'll be bringing to this year's Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Other acts on the night are Kevin Lockard, recent winner of the Comedy Dublin competition, improv troupe The Absurders, Comedy Dublin finalist Joey Machen and the night's organiser-in-chief Lisa Joyce.

As Lisa says, this is a great chance to catch some great young talent "before they're too famous to say hello to you" so please come along and support if you can. For more information on any of the performers, click on the images at the top of the post.

What a pity, I’ll be away… I just love comedy, my son is a budding talent beginning to mark some points, he has his own show with his best friend, they are called Street Justice, and he does all sorts of other “gigs” as well, Milk and Cookies, the International, Sheebeen Chic, Anseo, etc… I’ll mention this to him…

I can’t wait to see this cos I’ve seen these guys before and they’re all great but with them all together on one night it’s going to be a brilliant night that nobody will forget!

See you there!
