This week saw the official press launch of Cycle4Aware, Aware's brand-new cycling event. Broadcaster Ray D'Arcy, Dublin Rose Siobheal Nic Eochaidh and Dublin Rose finalist Michelle Ryan were on hand for the cameras and you can see a slideshow of pictures below or on our Flickr page.

Cycle4Aware is a 100km looped cycle starting and finishing at the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone and taking in the beauty of Lough Ree and Shannonbridge along the way. Events like this are hugely important in supporting our work, as Aware CEO Kevin Smyth explains:

"Aware relies on the revenue from fundraising events like this for 85% of its annual funding, so we really hope people will get involved. We wanted to come up with an event that doesn’t just benefit Aware – this one will also really benefit the people who take part and highlights the things we can all do to help our mental wellbeing: It promotes the importance of exercise, engaging with nature and being outdoors, and also gives everyone an opportunity to take some time out and enjoy the beauty of the midlands. It promises to be a great day and we’re really looking forward to it."

For more information, or to register online, see the main Cycle4Aware page. For more images from the launch, see the slideshow below or have a look at our Flickr page.
