This Wednesday will see a musical fundraiser in aid of Aware - and in memory of Irish guitarist Derrick Dalton.
Derrick took his own life two years ago and Wednesday's event will see the release of his last album, First Flight, under his solo name of Aeromodeller. The release has been overseen by his widow Laura, who has also gathered together a collection of local bands to play a tribute gig in his memory. Everyone who attends will also receive a free copy of the album, as well as a previously-unreleased 7-inch vinyl single called Like Goodbye (by one of Derrick's former bands Crumb). He was also a member of Hey Paulette, with whom he recorded a Peel Session for the the legendary John Peel's BBC radio show.
For more information on Derrick or the night itself, see this article or the Whelan's website. Start time is 8pm. Tickets cost €12 each, with all proceeds going to Aware, and can be booked online through tickets.ie
Thanks to Laura and all the bands for their support.
