Lean on Me – Supporting Positive Mental Health
Last year, Aware supported Lean on Me, an initiative encouraging everyone to support friends and family experiencing difficult times. The Lean on Me website provided information on symptoms and warnings signs, shared resources on available support services and gave tips on how to discuss mental health topics with those around you.
This year, the campaign continues with a series of four public meetings. Each meeting will feature contributions from an Aware volunteer, a health professional and a celebrity, each of whom will speak from their own experiences about the importance of support in overcoming mental health difficulties. Tips on talking to and supporting friends and family will also be shared.
The schedule for the meetings is as follows:
- Galway: Tuesday 17 May. Featuring Munster rugby player Alan Quinlan.
- Cork: Tuesday 24 May. Featuring Munster rugby player Alan Quinlan.
- Letterkenny: Wednesday 25 May. Featuring Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh.
- Athlone: Tuesday 31 May. Featuring Eurovision winner Niamh Kavanagh.
The events are free to attend but advance registration is necessary. To book your place, visit the Lean on Me site or call Orla on 01 669 0030.
