Over the last while, we've been piloting the Life Skills Programme, a practical, effective approach to helping anyone experiencing mild to moderate depression live life to the full. We'll shortly be conducting our third pilot group and we're looking for people to take part.
Last Monday evening saw the end of our second pilot, with 11 people completing the eighth session in the Aware offices in Leeson St, Dublin. Developed by Dr. Chris Williams, the programme introduces participants to cognitive behavioural therapy methods. Our colleagues in Aware Northern Ireland have already found it very useful and so far, the informal feedback of those in the pilot groups, as well as the comments of the external assessors that are helping us monitor the pilot, are all very positive.
We're now looking to hear from anyone who'd like to participate in the final pilot programme, which will be held in Dublin in late autumn. Following its completion, we will consider the results of all three groups and decide whether or not to introduce the programme on a national basis. In the meantime, those from outside Dublin can access the sessions online - just register for free on the programme website (this wonderful facility is strongly recommended by those who have been involved in the pilot programmes).
More information on session content is available on the Life Skills Programme page. If you'd like to take part in our third pilot group, simply email info@aware.ie
