Sunday next, 19 June, will see another novel fundraising effort for Aware.
John McCullen, ex-superintendant of the Phoenix Park, will lead a historical walking tour of the Park from the Castleknock gate to the Phoenix monument and back.
The walk costs €10, with proceeds going to support our work, and refreshments will be provided en route. This is a great chance for individuals, couples, families and groups to learn more about one of the largest landscaped city areas in Europe. To attend, just meet at 3pm at the Castleknock gate.
If you have any queries, please contact Martina on 086 8246077.
Thanks to everyone who took part in this Historical Walk. The rain held off and John McCullen ex Superintendant of the Phoenix Park answered various questions from enthusiastic walkers. John’s book is available at €40 in the Visitor Centre in the Phoenix Park and in Hodges Figgis and is a Masterpiece. Thanks John.
It was lovely to see lots of new walkers this year and some reliable old friends. Thanks to my youngest daughter’s Julianne’s friends for providing some guitar music and singing. Caoimhe Rory and Juxhin.
Thanks to Aware Leeson Street for all the assistance provided and to Muiris for advertising it on the Website. Over €300 raised on the afternoon.
And thank you too Martina for organising - we appreciate the support!
Thanks to Jim Lacey for a great promotional article for Aware in the local Castleknock Gazette (30/06/11).
We made a respectable €357. Thanks to everyone who donated.
