In our current email newsletter, Elaine Blake-Knox wrote about her fight against depression, alcoholism and bipolar disorder. Examples like this can give hope to people in their darkest times, showing that recovery is possible and that depression can be overcome. Do you have a story like that to share?
If you've got a story of depression, or how Aware has helped you by providing information or support, please submit it (anonymously, of course) so that other visitors to Aware.ie can see it. i have beev been suffering from head pain for the last six years all the time i feel that something is moving in my head something is going up and something is coming down
Hi Ajay,
Sorry to hear you’ve been in pain, especially for 6 years - that really is a long time. Have you seen a doctor about this?
We obviously can’t diagnose anything from a distance like this (and we don’t get involved in diagnosis anyway) but if you need someone to talk to, you’ll find information on our support services in the ‘How we can help’ section of the site.
Take care.
I suffered mild depression after having my first child, as mothers probably do with first baby, same again after second, i know it was an all time low, but recently after a build of life’s journey’s and so hard it has hit me like a brick wall and knocked me for 6 where a box of tissues would be my best friend, the outside world could stay there, but underneath it all i was determined to let the sun hit my face and know that this depression was not going to beat me, but the big think i have been told that i am aware of how i am feeling, i have gone to my g.p and told that this is a step in the right direction not to ignore that i don’t feel right and it is ok to feel this way.
Hi Martina,
Thanks for sharing your story and I’m glad to hear you’re taking steps towards recovery.
You’re absolutely right about realising that it’s okay to feel down sometimes - there are a lot of aspects to managing depression but having the right attitude is vital and you seem to have that.
Best of luck, and take care of yourself…
i’ve just been to V.C.T and i’m feeling much better after having gone trough my exprience with love(well i’d like to tink it was love). i’ve been feeling very depressed lately after losing the 1 i loved just because of a stupid mistake i did.(sleeping with some1 else while deing in a relationship). i really do regret although i cant chage what i did, i still very hurt because that person was the love of my life…
Glad you’ve found some peace of mind and comfortm nomusa.
As you say, we can’t change the past - but we can change the future.
Best of luck, and take care.
