Male Research Participants Needed

  •  Are you the Father of one or more children under the age of 18?
  • Did your wife or partner experience postnatal depression?

Most research into postnatal depression focuses on the impact that it can have on mothers and mothering. There is very little research that focuses on the impact of maternal postnatal depression on spouses or partners.

Janet Malone, a Trainee Counselling Psychologist in Trinity College Dublin is conducting a research study that aims to get a better understanding of how men experience fatherhood when their wife or partner has postnatal depression and whether being a father in circumstances that involve maternal postnatal depression affects their relationship with their children and their ways of parenting. This research also aims to identify the kinds of information and interventions that may help to support men in their parenting.

Participation involves a face-to-face interview lasting approximately an hour, which will be held in a location convenient to you.

If you think that you may be interested in participating in this research or would like to know about it then please contact Janet Malone directly by email at:

Thank you.
