PhD student conducting research into postnatal mental health

A PhD student in Trinity College is undertaking a study, funded by the HRB that is looking at a partner's experiences when a baby is born, if the mum has postnatal mental ill health. This could be pre-existing or a new condition such as anxiety or postnatal depression.

Partners play a crucial role in supporting the mum and reducing the impact of mental health issues on both the mum and baby, however, very little is known about the partner's experiences during this time and what help and support is needed, which is what this study is aiming to explore.
