The next phase of Aware’s Life Skills programme, which will include five programmes specifically for people dealing with severe financial stress such as mortgage arrears, will start in early November and online registration is now open. The Life Skills Group programme is based on principles of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and helps people learn new ways of dealing with challenging life situations. The programmes are being offered in 18 locations nationwide, with four of these specifically for individuals dealing with severe financial stress. While the programme will not solve the individual’s financial issue, it could potentially help prevent a serious impact on mental health,as well as help build coping skills.
