Topic: Rethinking Ageing: How to help older people more effectively
Summary: Dr. Declan Lyons talks about how we percieve old age and the essential needs of older people, the inevitable adjustments of later life, practical tips about surviving and thriving in later years and the opportunities and freedoms of later life. Dr. Lyons hopes that after listening to this lecture you will gain new ideas to help older people overcome depression and negative thinking, confidence to challenge the negative stereotypes in modern society about older people, insight into how to reactivate the inner resources of older people to help them embrace the challenges of aging and`ways to overcome your own fears of aging.
Aware lectures are provided free of charge and all are welcome to attend. Lectures take place the second Wednesday of every month at the Lecture Theatre, Swift Centre, St. Patrick’s Hospital, James’s St., Dublin 8.
Lectures start at 7.30pm however we advise that you arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you are seated comfortably. Paid parking is available in the St. Patrick’s Hospital car park (entrance via Steeven’s Lane); alternatively, take the Luas (red line) to Heuston Station and walk (map to St. Patrick’s Hospital).
