Thank you to the 1500 people in Dublin and 100 people in Cork who joined Aware’s Harbour2Harbour Walk on St. Patrick’s Day. It was a phenomenal turn out, our largest to date. The 10th year of our walk in Dublin saw an increase from 850 participants in 2014 to 1500 on the Dublin route this year. This was our very first Harbour2Harbour Walk in Cork and we are delighted that so many people in the Carrigaline and Crosshaven area got involved to support Aware.
This year also saw significant involvement from our charity partners Irish Ferries and Dublin Port Company and also our event media sponsor 98 FM. Aware would like to sincerely thank all the volunteers who helped out on the day with registration, photographers Brendan Ryan and Howard Crowdy, The Bloody Stream Pub, Dun Laoghaire BID, Teddy’s Ice-Cream, Cully & Sully, Keogh’s Crisps, The Jelly Bean Factory and of course to everyone who supported our walk either by taking part, sponsoring friends and family or simply cheering our walkers on along the way.
This year’s walk has so far raised €40,000. Many of our walkers fundraised in addition to the registration fee and donations are still coming in. All the funds raised from our Harbour2Harbour Walk go towards developing and maintaining our information, education and support services.
