Topic: Aware Research Symposium: Presenting results of recent Irish research into depression.
Speaker 1 – Eilis Hennessy, UCD, presents findings from the research titled, ‘Now that I look back I realise that…’: Young Adults’ retrospective accounts of mental health stigma experienced during childhood and adolescence.
Speaker (starts 25 minutes in) – Deirdre Tuohy, University of Ulster, presents findings from the research titled ‘Why Volunteer? A qualitative analysis on the experience of support group facilitators at a mental health organisation.
Speaker 3 (starts 47 minutes in) Professor Declan McLoughlin, TCD presents findings from research titled ‘Stimulating the brain, healing the mind’. This research focuses on Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT).
Aware lectures are provided free of charge and all are welcome to attend. Lectures take place the second Wednesday of every month at the Lecture Theatre, Swift Centre, St. Patrick’s Hospital, James’s St., Dublin 8.
Lectures start at 7.30pm however we advise that you arrive 15 minutes early to ensure you are seated comfortably. Paid parking is available in the St. Patrick’s Hospital car park (entrance via Steeven’s Lane); alternatively, take the Luas (red line) to Heuston Station and walk (map to St. Patrick’s Hospital).
