Join Aware for a free in-person event on Monday, 19th October, from 7.30 – 9pm at The Ardilaun Hotel, Galway, exploring resilience in mental health.
The evening will feature a conversation with mental health advocate Jonathan Kemp, alongside Galway local Aware volunteer Jean O’Leary – on lived experience of mental health difficulties and locally accessible supports.
Lived Experience in Conversation
Following the completion in Galway of his incredible 10 month 4,200km ‘Finding Peace of Mind’ walking challenge, Jonathan Kemp will reflect on his mental health journey including late diagnosis bipolar II, and share learnings and stories from his walking challenge across Scotland, England, Wales, N.Ireland and Ireland – sparking conversations about mental health and raising funds for mental health charities including Aware.
Jean O’Leary has been involved with Aware for 30 years, working to destigmatise mental health perceptions – she is part of the team facilitating the Galway local Support and Self Care Group and will speak from her years of experience hosting these groups – which are a supportive, confidential and proactive environment where peers can talk openly about mental health challenges.
